“I have had an amazing experience at Melody Makers as a piano student with Jun sir from 2014 to 2018. Jun was a very passionate piano teacher who strongly emphasized sight reading, good technique, and had a deep understanding of the message a composer was trying to convey through the melody (interpretation) in every piece. His teaching encouraged me to always challenge myself by taking on tougher pieces even early on as a student, which greatly improved my skills and confidence as a pianist. Thanks to Jun sir's excellent teaching, I finished all 8 grades of the Trinity College London (TCL) piano performance syllabus by 2016 and went even further to receive my ATCL diploma in 2018. Besides TCL piano exam preparation, Melody Makers offered excellent opportunities to improve my public performance skills through recitals held every year. One of the more challenging pieces I learnt was Rachmaninoff Polichinelle Op. 3 No. 4, as well as Rachmaninoff Prelude in G Minor Op. 23 No. 5 which I played for my high school graduation. In addition to solo pieces, these recitals also gave me the opportunity to play piano duets with Jun sir like Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 2 and I will forever cherish my memories at Melody Makers. After finishing my A-levels in 2021, I then completed 4 years of a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA and graduated Magna Cum Laude in Electrical Engineering with concentrations in semiconductors and electromagnetics. I am now pursuing a master's and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, USA with a focus on ferroelectrically-tunable resonators for novel Compute-in-Memory hardware applications. Thanks to Melody Makers, my love for classical music and playing the piano has continued to thrive. Even as I pursue my PhD, the lessons I learned at the piano - patience, precision, and expression - stay with me every day. The attention to detail and doing things the right way are skills that have greatly helped me in my Electrical Engineering career thus far, and I am sure that they will continue to do so over the course of my PhD and beyond. If you are looking for a music school that fosters both world-class skill and lifelong discipline, Melody Makers is definitely the place. Thank you, Jun sir, and the whole team, for shaping me into the person and pianist that I am today!”

“I have been a student at this institution for as long as I can remember. From Dance to art to music, Melody Makers has played a pivotal role in my life. I was a dance student for 7 years under Akshay sir, and a Drums student for 6 years under Chris sir. They are both phenomenal teachers whose guidance had motivated me to become better at both dance and drumming. Under Chris sir’s tutelage I passed my Grade 8 drums examination with distinction. Chris sir has always supported me and he always motivated me to learn more than the given syllabus and truly master the drums. From trinity grade 1 till grade 8, his tutelage was the reason for my great scores. Similarly Akshay sir always took the time to explain every dance step and ensure I could perform to the best of my capabilities. I lack the words to properly thank them for their years of effort. “11 years ago I decided to pick up the acoustic guitar and learn it, initially never had a strong interest, tried a few classes at another institution but the drive to learn wasn't there for me. When I came to Melody makers and met sir Chris, I could tell from the beginning itself he was a passionate teacher and a musician so learning from him was always fun to look forward too. Then one day during class, he was teaching another student an electric guitar riff, that's when I got hooked on to electric guitar and rock music, this moment made me want to start learning the electric guitar, during classes he would give me an electric guitar to try out and I got hooked even more. Then after that I just wanted to learn how to play the electric guitar, not specifically for the grades and certificates, but just for the love of playing the electric guitar. Sir Chris saw that passion I had and helped me turn it into a piece of me. He taught me so many techniques and skills while it being fun and entertaining for me. One of a kind teacher that you will meet. Because of him I learned about so many bands and music that made me who I am today. Melody makers as well has many great teachers and has great facilities, I tried learning keyboard as well but I got more attached to the electric guitar 😆. I highly recommend this place to find your passion in music and playing any instrument.
